Leaf Collection
Leaf Collection
In the fall, leaves may be raked to the tree lawn where they are picked up by leaf machines and City crews on a regular basis. Leaves should not be placed at the curb or in the street as they can block sewers and create traffic hazards.
During the annual Fall Leaf Collection, our City's service crews and the leaf trucks work diligently. It is the City’s intention to make one pass throughout the entire City each week, barring any delays due to weather, equipment, or other conditions beyond our control. Leaf collection is our top priority at this time of the year, and we will continue to make every effort to keep our City looking beautiful.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Leaves must be left on the tree lawn for collection and should not be raked into the street for safety reasons;
When leaves are left in the street it becomes a tempting and dangerous place for children to play;
Leaves left in the street can enter the storm water sewer system and could cause blockage in the sewers;
When leaves are left in the street, older vehicles or those without catalytic converter shields are in danger of igniting dried leaves;
When leaves that are left in the street and are run over they become compacted and difficult to lift off the street;
Leaves left on the tree lawn allow the leaf trucks to pull up to the curb and allows access for other vehicles to get by;
Please do not park in front of the leaf piles as it does not allow the leaf trucks accessibility to pick up the leaves;
The City would very much appreciate residents raking their leaves to the tree lawn before the first snow accumulation.
Your effort in this regard will help our leaf removal crews to be able to move quickly through each street in the City each week. Thank you!
